Opening up

Following Boris' announcement of a roadmap for the lifting of lockdown it seems some minimal use of our golf courses will be permitted from the 13th May. But it will be minimal and it seems unlikely to be a major benefit the income of cash-strapped clubs. It seems certain therefore the coronavirus will continue to impact on course maintenance. Reduced budgets and probable staff cuts backs are likely to make it even more difficult to present courses to the accepted norms we had pre Covid-19. In these circumstances there is much to be said for a back to basics approach, cutting off the frills from the programme and focussing on the essentials. I will be pleased to discuss what can and can't be cut back by phone and email, but course visits are still not practical for the time being.
