Need a flush?

Having had 3 consecutive years with long periods of irrigation on greens it has become very much apparent this year that many courses are suffering precipitate build up affecting the water balance of the putting surfaces. The primary source of the problem is a significant bicarbonate content in the water supply, the effects of which can accumulate over a period of years. This is, though, fairly simple to cure by flushing using a calcium based product and penetrant. But it is essential to make the greens wet as well, using 3-4 mm of irrigation rain to push the products through the rootzone profile.
